On October 28, the Book Lovers Club, led by Ilana Yuabova, held a meeting at
the Bukharian Jewish Community Center. This time, our Ladies’ World group joined the event as well. My goal was to
bring together the senior community members and long-time contributors of the
magazine and the “Esther-a-Malka” organization with the younger circle of book
enthusiasts—some of whom are new columnists for our magazine—and to introduce
them to the atmosphere of these intellectual gatherings.

Around 30 women of different generations came
together, creating a warm, intergenerational, and truly inspiring environment.
The group discussed Lessons in Chemistry
by Bonnie Garmus—an insightful, witty novel about a woman chemist whose
strength and perseverance allow her to overcome every obstacle in her path.
Next, I introduced our new young contributors
to the Ladies’ World editorial team:
Professor Olga Binyaminova, Zoya Aminova, Elena Levi, and our youngest
participant, Sarina Kushmakova. The conversation that followed was lively and
meaningful—we talked about how to make the magazine even more engaging, how to
attract young readers, expand the audience, and increase circulation.
The meeting concluded on a joyful note: Ilana
led a short exercise session, Tamara Kataeva sang a song, and Nina Kaylyakova
presented Ilana with a copy of her children’s book, Daily Dose.
This was our first joint gathering—but
certainly not the last.
