The month of May always comes to us in a
special way. After a long winter, the world seems to fill with light, flowers,
and warmth around and within us. Spring brings many beautiful holidays, but
among them, there is one that holds a truly special place – Mother’s Day. The
most tender, the most radiant, and perhaps the most important of all. Because
no matter how old we are or how our lives unfold, the word “mom”
remains the dearest, the warmest, and the most precious.
It is symbolic that on May 10, Mother’s Day,
the women’s organization Esther a-Malka and Ladies’ World magazine,
under the Congress of Bukharian Jews of the USA and Canada, host a grand
celebration – The Motherhood Gala: Salute to Outstanding Bukharian
Jewish Mothers.
This is not simply a festive event with
music, flowers, and awards. It is a day when we say to our mothers what we
often don’t manage to say in everyday life: thank you. Thank you for
sleepless nights and endless patience. For care without limits. For the
strength with which women endure every challenge. For the ability to carry a
home, a family, children, and careers – while remaining loving, beautiful,
wise, and incredibly strong.
Mothers of large families deserve special
admiration. Raising even one child is no small task. How much love, generosity
of spirit, patience, and inner strength it takes to raise four, five, or even
more children, while still finding time for a profession, family life, and
helping others. It is to such women that this special issue is dedicated.
This year, we introduce you to seven remarkable
heroines of the Outstanding Mother – 2026 project. They differ
in profession, character, and life journey. Among them are entrepreneurs, an
attorney, a medical professional, a makeup artist, a cosmetologist, a hair
specialist, a singer, an actress, speakers, and community leaders. Yet they
are united by one essential truth: each has successfully combined professional
achievement and social engagement with the most important and most demanding
calling – to be a mother.
Within these pages, you will see their photographs, read their stories, and learn
about their families, achievements, and dreams.
The cover of this celebratory issue graces Margarita
Moshe – an attorney, businesswoman, mentor, community leader,
philanthropist, and mother of many children. She is one of the heroines of our
celebration. Intelligent, beautiful, strong, generous, and at the same time
remarkably modest – time spent in her presence is truly uplifting. Yet each of
our outstanding mothers, winners of this recognition, is worthy of the cover.
Each is an example of how strong, successful, wise, and inspiring a modern
woman can be.
In this issue, we speak not only about the
joy of motherhood but also about its challenges. You will find a thoughtful
discussion about single mothers (p. 22), a touching letter from a daughter to
her mother, as well as stories, poems, and even humor about mothers – all
reminding us once again of the profound role a mother plays in every person’s
life.
And one more important piece of news I am
delighted to share. Following the success of the Unique Evening of New
Connections, many young people have asked us to make such gatherings
regular. Building on our beloved tradition of the “Ladies’ World Salon on
Wheels,” we have decided to continue it in a new format and created a Unique
Day of New
Connections on Wheels. On June 14, we invite you on a special journey
to Mohonk Valley – a historic castle surrounded by mountains, gardens, and a
lake. It will be a day to meet new friends – and perhaps even someone with whom
you will wish to walk through life side by side. I truly hope that different
generations will meet on this journey. That mothers will one day say, “We met
many years ago in our Ladies’ World Salon on Weels,” and that their
children will continue this beautiful tradition in their own way. After all,
our magazine has always been – and remains – about people, destinies, meetings,
and family. And if, through this journey, a new friendship, a new family, or a
new love story begins, it will be our greatest joy.
Dear Mothers,
With all my heart, I congratulate you on your special day. Thank you for your love, kindness, and wisdom. For everything you do every day
– quietly, selflessly, without grand words, but with an immense heart.
