The Light of Passover in Our community projects

Dear friends,

Our magazine usually comes out in the second week of the month, but this time, on the eve of the great holiday of Passover, we made a special effort to release this issue earlier so that we could greet you just before this meaningful day. From the bottom of our hearts, we congratulate you and your families: Chag Pesach Kasher v’Sameach!

Passover is one of the most beloved and deeply meaningful holidays in our tradition. It is not merely a memory of a historical event-it is a living connection between generations, a celebration of renewal, and inner freedom. The path to freedom was long: from the first steps of our forefather Abraham to the formation of an entire nation, from years of wandering to decades of harsh slavery in Egypt. Through these trials, our national identity, faith, dignity, and longing for freedom were shaped and strengthened.

A special place, of course, belongs to the Passover Seder – the culmination of the holiday. It is not simply a festive meal, but a profound and symbolic ritual in which every detail carries meaning. We gather as families around the table, light candles, read the Haggadah, ask questions, sing, remember, and give thanks. In these moments, the connection between generations and the unity of family and people are felt most deeply.

At times like these, memories of childhood inevitably return. With warmth and tenderness, I recall how preparations for the holiday began long in advance in my parents’ home. Nearly a month before Passover, neighbors would gather – it was a true coming together of people. The men kneaded the dough, the women rolled it out, and the entire process was filled with lively conversation and laughter. Baking the matzah in the tandооr oven was entrusted only to my mother – it was both a special skill and a great responsibility.

Everything took place deep in the courtyard, sometimes at night, quietly and away from prying eyes and the authorities. Yet despite this necessary secrecy, those moments were filled with such light, unity, and heartfelt warmth that it was then I truly felt the essence of this holiday – freedom, mutual support, togetherness, and faith. These memories have stayed with me throughout my life and grow more precious with each passing year.

Today, times have changed. Life has become easier, and preparing for the holiday no longer requires the same effort as before. Yet one thing remains unchanged: the special role of women in creating the spirit of Passover. It is women who fill the home with warmth, care, and beauty; who ensure that traditions are observed; who prepare the festive table and pass these values on to their children and grandchildren. Through their dedication and example, tradition endures.

The women of our organization are a source of pride for our community. Even during this busy time, they continue to work actively, initiate new projects, and inspire others. We are currently preparing for an important event – Salute to Outstanding Mother, which will take place on May 10. This celebration honors strong women who raise large Jewish families, succeed professionally, and contribute wholeheartedly to our community's life. We are already receiving nominations and look forward to sharing their inspiring stories in future issues.

In addition, at the request of participants from our previous Singles Event, we are continuing to develop opportunities for connection. We are planning a new and unique project: the “Ladies’ World Room on Wheels” for singles – a journey across the country in a warm, friendly atmosphere with Lyuba Pilosova and our guide Anvar. Stay tuned – there is much more to come.

Finally, we are pleased to share that the Jewish dating site Hebrew.app is now live. This modern platform is designed for those seeking meaningful relationships and a connection to tradition. You can learn more about it in this issue (page. 29) and join today.

Once again, the entire Ladies’ World team warmly congratulates you on Passover. May all your dreams come true!
