Dear friends, one of the main goals of the women’s organization
«Ester-a-malka» and the magazine «Ladies‘ World» (like other community media and
organizations) - is the popularization of our original culture, popularization of traditions,
coverage of achievements in various spheres of life of Bukharian Jews in past
and present. On the pages of our magazine, we frequently tell about extraordinary
individuals and entire families who are role models and subjects of our pride. To
celebrate this we hold international competitions «Woman of the Year», «Salute
to Outstanding mothers», «Man of the Year», where the best of the best are
built on the pedestal. We promote family values, ways of correct,
religious education of children, morals and culture of their behavior in
society. And all this is done with the sole
purpose of showing how the Bukharian Jewish community is changing. As a result,
what had been little-known in the past and undervalued has now become
more recognizable among other ethnic groups. We
are also famous for our unique culture, and national traditions, and high spirituality. And as scientifically
has been proven (read the works of the doctor Robert Pinhasov) - our ethnic
group has a high per capita percentage of highly educated specialists in all
areas of life. It is particularly interesting that in recent times interest of
our young generation has sharply increased to our national values, to community
activity and to generous charity.
Like many of you, I get a lot of smart,
interesting and informative messages and videos
in messengers and virtual platforms about the lives of our people and such
achievements to be proud of, and as an editor I am
happy to share it with you, dear readers.
Thanks to all those who send me them, counting on me as on disseminator. But
recently I experienced shock when I got on WhatsApp and other messengers at
once several base-content videos, disgraceful and
demeaning our people, especially our youth, and negatively affect the
reputation of the community. What is called «a spoonful of tar in a barrel of
honey». I will not describe them in detail. When the time comes, we will
seriously talk and discuss this issue online with the well-known public speeker
Yocheved Dekhanov. I can say only one thing - such videos and messages do not
make honor not to active in them persons, neither those who made them, nor
those who send them (as it turned out, many such videos and messages have been
circulating online for several years!).
This case has given me reason to once again remind that we are all, especially parents, responsible for education of the young generation and for the development of decent Personality in them. We need to teach young people to be proud of their community and take care of its reputation. It is the pledge of our future among other peoples. It is clear that for the development of a number of personal qualities a special place is given not only to the upbringing received in the family, but also to self-education, self-development and improvement of mind, taste, character, etc. throughout life. I consciously do not mention education. It does make us better, but is mainly aimed at just giving profession. Therefore, often people of the same profession, even with higher education, behave differently in the same situation.
On the eve of the coming Jewish holidays Rosh a Shan and Yom Kippur I would like to wish everyone to use this time for self-criticism and self-esteem and try to do everything possible to to instil in oneself, and especially in one’s children, respect for one another and for the community as a whole.
May the New Year-5783 will be a year for each of us to further increase the authority of the Bukharian Jewish community. And we are all responsible for it.
